The Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, met with the Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal Consulting, Abdullah El-Ebiary, and the CEO of Renergy Egypt for Renewable Energy, Robert Van, to discuss the pioneering green hydrogen project in Sinai.
The Minister emphasized that the project is a fundamental part of Egypt's strategy to transition towards clean energy and attract foreign investments, noting that the Sinai project is a unique model for sustainable projects.
He added that the government is committed to supporting
leading projects that place Egypt at the forefront of clean energy-producing
countries, and is working to create an attractive investment climate to attract
more international investments.
El-Ebiary explained that the Sinai project includes the
installation of a 15-gigawatt electrolyzer, a water storage and pumping system
for power generation, providing a sustainable supply of base load power
reaching 3.1 gigawatts after the completion of its three phases.
Van confirmed that the project has great potential to become one of the most important sources of green hydrogen in the world, pointing out that the first phase includes a desalination plant, a liquid hydrogen production facility, and a marine dock to export the product to Europe.
