Kuwaiti investments in Egypt reach $4.5 billion

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, has begun a visit to Kuwait to participate in the inaugural meetings of the joint Egyptian-Kuwaiti Trade and Industry Committee. The committee's work will include a ministerial-level meeting, preceded by meetings of experts and technical specialists from both countries.

During his visit, Minister El-Khatib will meet with his Kuwaiti counterparts in Finance and Trade and Industry. He will also participate in a meeting of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Business Council, followed by bilateral meetings with Kuwaiti investors and ten Kuwaiti investment groups.

This visit aims to showcase Egypt's investment opportunities and potential to Kuwaiti representatives. The Minister will highlight the Egyptian government's current financial, monetary, and trade policies and procedures designed to facilitate investment and streamline foreign trade. The overall goal is to attract increased Kuwaiti investment and boost bilateral trade.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately $3 billion in 2023, with key traded goods including cables, display screens, food products, fresh fruits and vegetables, oil, and petroleum products. Total Kuwaiti investments in Egypt currently stand at around $4.5 billion, spread across sectors such as finance, industry, construction, tourism, services, agriculture, communications, and information technology.
