Egypt, Saudi Arabia forge agricultural partnership in Nubaria

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, witnessed the signing of a pivotal cooperation agreement between the Agricultural Research Center and the Saudi Green Agricultural Development Company. The agreement will establish the production of agricultural fertilizers and soil improvers in the strategic Nubaria region.

The signing, formalized by Dr. Ahmed Helmy, Director of Horticultural Research Institute and Engineer Adel Al-Shammari, Chairman of Saudi Company, in the presence of Dr. Adel Abdel Azim Head of the Agricultural Research Center, underscores the strengthening strategic ties between the two nations.

Minister Farouk welcomed the Saudi investment, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to supporting foreign, particularly Arab and Saudi, investments to bolster food security. He highlighted Egypt's investment-ready environment, a result of comprehensive reforms under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr. Abdel Azim detailed the agreement's scope, extending beyond fertilizers to include seed production, comprehensive agricultural inputs (especially vegetable seeds), and solar energy integration. He also emphasized the provision of specialized training and capacity building for Saudi personnel, with certifications issued by the Agricultural Research Center and endorsed by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Engineer Al-Shammari expressed enthusiasm for investing in Egypt, acknowledging the support of the Minister and the Egyptian General Authority for Investment in facilitating market entry. He outlined further collaboration areas, including clean energy, medicinal and aromatic plants, and leveraging the Agricultural Research Center's scientific expertise. He positioned Egypt as a key gateway to African markets, noting the Saudi Investment Authority's backing, and announced the fertilizer factory's production launch in June, with products destined for both domestic and international markets.
