Basil Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), confirmed that the agency continues to provide various forms of support to women to encourage them to start new small businesses or expand existing ones.
He clarified that thousands of women have successfully benefited from the agency's financial and technical services to establish their projects in various productive and heritage sectors, which has had a significant impact in providing job opportunities for them and their employees.
Rahmy added that since the end of March, which
witnessed the celebration of International Women's Day and Egyptian Women's
Day, the agency is working to encourage women to establish new, non-typical
projects that will find demand and popularity in local and international
markets, by providing more non-financial services that help them develop their
skills, whether through training or helping them to shop by participating in
exhibitions or through major electronic platforms or electronic marketing.
He explained that the agency has allocated EGP 2.1
billion in funding to women's projects in 2024, financing 43,000 small and
micro projects, representing 50% of the total projects funded by the agency
during the year. Women's participation in domestic exhibitions reached 57%, and
83% benefited from e-marketing activities, which included various activities,
including awareness-raising, training courses, and participation in major
online platforms.
A number of small business owners praised their cooperation with the MSMEDA, for providing a wide range of technical and financial services. These services have played a significant role in encouraging them to enter the field of self-employment and subsequently stabilize their projects, while also enhancing their capabilities in developing these projects and marketing their products.
