El-Wazir inaugurates Amreya Bridge expansion

Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, announced the opening of the Amreya Bridge, to traffic coming from Alexandria towards Cairo. This opening, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr, commenced on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The bridge intersects with the high-speed electric train line.

This opening follows the completion of the bridge's first phase towards Cairo. For the next week, traffic from Cairo to Alexandria will maintain its current route. Following this, it will be diverted to facilitate the second phase of the project which is expansion and elevation towards Alexandria. This project aims to facilitate the traffic to and from Alexandria, to both residents and visitors.

The bridge is 1,200 meters long, includes ramps and access roads, with five traffic lanes. It is one of the major industrial projects in the first line of the high-speed electric train network (Sokhna/El Alamein/Matrouh) currently being implemented.  This project represents a huge qualitative leap in modern means of transportation in Egypt.
