President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting today, Sunday, with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, in the presence of Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, and Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, Head of the Financial Affairs Authority of the Armed Forces.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the meeting discussed plans to expand and modernize the national electricity system, including exploring various financing options to support these efforts. The investments necessary to enhance distribution networks and improve the quality of service provided to citizens, particularly in the governorates of Upper Egypt, were thoroughly reviewed.

During the meeting, the President was also informed about the ongoing efforts to increase electricity generation capacity through various projects, including renewable energy storage initiatives. These projects aim to address peak load demands and ensure the stability of the unified electricity grid, ultimately supporting the government's goal of eliminating load shedding that occurred in the past.

Additionally, the meeting delved into the progress of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project. Discussions covered the implementation status, timeline, and achievements in all areas, including engineering, technical, and administrative aspects, as well as human capital development. The project is a key component of the government's strategy to diversify electricity generation sources and advance Egypt's Vision 2030.

The meeting also included a review of programs for constructing electrical infrastructure in new cities, such as transformer stations, as well as the progress of extending power lines and extra-high voltage cable tunnels to these areas. Moreover, electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries and the readiness of the national infrastructure for these connections were discussed. Strategies for collaborating with the private sector were also reviewed to leverage its administrative, technical, and technological expertise in order to continuously improve service quality, ensure operational excellence, and enhance performance rates.

The official spokesperson added that President Sisi instructed the continued efforts to enhance electricity services for various purposes in all governorates of the republic. Additionally, the President emphasized the importance of increasing the capacity of the national electricity grid to accommodate the anticipated growth in consumption due to population growth and development programs. This would be achieved through ongoing modernization of power generation stations, transmission and distribution networks, and control centers, as well as improving the efficiency of utilizing new and renewable energy. Ultimately, these measures would contribute to supporting and strengthening comprehensive national development.
