The Japanese Embassy in Cairo announced today, Sunday, that a seminar was held to exchange views with Dr. Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, in order to resolve the tax problems faced by Japanese companies in Egypt.
The embassy indicated that it had organized a seminar on tax issues with the Japanese Business Association (JBA), in cooperation with the Egyptian Tax Authority.
It stated that during
this seminar, it exchanged views and opinions with Dr. Rasha Abdel Aal, who
briefed the attendees on the recent tax reforms carried out by the Egyptian
government. She also clarified that she would work diligently to resolve the
tax problems faced by Japanese companies on an individual basis. Time was also
allocated to answer questions and inquiries from representatives of the member
companies of the JBA who attended the seminar on behalf of the Egyptian Tax
Authority.
The embassy added that tax issues are one of the main issues that must be resolved for Japanese companies to strengthen their businesses and projects in Egypt. It was noted that tax issues were also discussed as a main topic during the fourth meeting of the "Japanese-Egyptian Joint Committee for Investment and Business Promotion," held on September 12, where the Egyptian side expressed a strong and positive stance towards resolving these issues.
The embassy added that it is expected that this dialogue will lead to further strengthening of efforts to resolve tax issues related to the Egyptian Tax Authority. The Japanese Embassy also stated that it will continue to work with the Egyptian government to improve the business and investment environment for Japanese companies.
