Egypt has contracted to import 50,000 tons of crude sunflower oil to bolster its food oil reserves
In a statement, the Ministry of
Supply and Internal Trade said that as part of the political leadership's
directives to strengthen the country's reserves of various commodities, the
General Authority for Supply Commodities has contracted for the import of
50,000 tons of crude sunflower oil, bringing the adequacy period of the
strategic food oil stock to seven and a half months.
It is worth noting that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had previously issued directives to the government to ensure a permanent strategic stock of basic food commodities to prevent any crises.
