"Egypt reaffirmed its full commitment to enhancing joint action and cooperation between the BRICS countries and the countries of the South to achieve our common goals and the aspirations of our peoples for a better future," President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated in his speech at the BRICS Plus summit on Thursday.
He emphasized that today's
meeting takes place in a complex international context, characterized by
crises, challenges, and a threat to the credibility of the multilateral
international system. Egypt believes that in the face of protectionist
tendencies and unilateral policies, developing countries must unite and
strengthen "South-South" cooperation as a crucial means to address
current challenges.
As a country at the forefront of
promoting cooperation among developing nations, Egypt has consistently
supported the interests and priorities of the South in various international
forums.
President El-Sisi further
highlighted the importance of discussing the Middle East crisis within the
context of current global challenges. The region's escalating conflicts,
affecting multiple countries and negatively impacting navigation in the Gulf of
Aden and the Red Sea, pose a significant threat to international trade and the
stability of global supply chains.
“Egypt values the BRICS Plus
forum as a platform to advance cooperation and enhance consultation between the
BRICS group and the countries of the South," President Abdel Fattah
El-Sisi continued.
He emphasized the importance of
maximizing the benefits of multilateral development banks to ensure they are
better equipped to enhance developing countries' access to concessional
financing, including climate finance.
President El-Sisi highlighted the
crucial role of the New Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure
Investment Bank in providing necessary and facilitated financing to developing
countries for the implementation of development projects in various sectors.
President El-Sisi called for
increased investment in the BRICS Plus meetings to enhance South-South
cooperation, intensify the exchange of experiences in various fields, and
implement joint projects for mutual benefit.
He reaffirmed Egypt's readiness to continue implementing numerous technical cooperation and capacity-building projects with countries seeking to collaborate.
