In a significant boost to Egypt's agricultural exports, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, has announced that the Vietnamese market is now open to Egyptian grape exports.
According to a report received by the Minister from Dr. Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of the Egyptian Plant Protection Service, Vietnam has officially opened its market to Egyptian grape exporters as of November 15th.
This achievement, El-Mansy
stated, is the result of over five years of negotiations with Vietnamese
counterparts. A successful visit by a Vietnamese plant protection delegation to
Egypt last August culminated in an agreement on phytosanitary requirements for
exporting Egyptian grapes to Vietnam.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s
agricultural exports from January 1 to October 30, 2024, exceeded 7.1 million
tons of agricultural products, generating approximately $4.1 billion, marking
an increase of over $1 billion compared to the same period last year.
Egypt's primary agricultural exports include citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, grapes, beans, mangoes, tomatoes, garlic, strawberries, guava, and pomegranates.
