President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Brazilian President Lula da Silva on the sidelines of the G20 summit meetings held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The official spokesman for the Presidency indicated that President Sisi thanked his counterpart for inviting Egypt to participate in the G20 which reflects Brazil’s recognition of Egypt’s regional influence, He commended the well-organized summit. Brazil is keen to prioritize the needs of developing countries, including the launch of the Global Alliance to Combat Hunger and Poverty, in response to global challenges.
The Brazilian President expressed
his appreciation for Egypt's active participation in the group's meetings
throughout the year. He highlighted Egypt's role in advocating for the needs
and priorities of developing countries and commended the President's
participation in the summit. The two presidents discussed the regional
situation. President Sisi outlined Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the
Middle East.
The official spokesman added that
the meeting also focused on strengthening bilateral relations. Both leaders
recognized the importance of enhanced cooperation, given the convergence of
their interests and positions on various issues.
Following the meeting, the two presidents signed a joint statement elevating the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership. This move aims to fulfill the aspirations of both friendly peoples.
