The German Embassy in Cairo announced today, Tuesday, that Egypt has successfully launched the "Green Label" for plastic products.
This new initiative marks a significant step towards sustainability. The Green Label was launched at an event attended by representatives from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Trade and Industry, consumer goods companies, and plastic producers.
The embassy affirmed that this
project represents a qualitative leap for Egypt in its journey towards
sustainability, through cooperation with the German Agency for International
Cooperation (GIZ) and the EU Green Program. The embassy explained that the
Green Label will contribute to reducing plastic waste, improving waste
management, and promoting a circular economy by supporting recycling, as well
as creating green jobs in the environmental and industrial sectors.
The Green Label sets new sustainability standards for plastic production, focusing on recyclability and promoting sustainable environmental practices. This project is being implemented in cooperation between GIZ, the Ministry of Environment, and the Waste Management Regulatory Authority, contributing to building a cleaner and more sustainable future for Egypt.
