BP commits to boosting Egypt energy investments

President Abdel Fattah El- Sisi received today Monday the CEO of British Petroleum, Moray Ouchinchlos, in the presence of Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Nader Zaki, the company's regional president for the Middle East and North Africa.

The official spokesperson stated that the president commended the company's contributions to Egypt's gas and petroleum sectors, including field development. The president also welcomed increased investments in Egypt's energy sector, assuring the government's support for global companies and private sector participation.

The president also expressed Egypt's desire to expand cooperation with British Petroleum into clean and renewable energy, particularly green hydrogen production. Egypt aims to become a regional hub for green hydrogen production and export, and to attract global companies to low-emission energy projects.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the official spokesperson, stated that the company's CEO expressed gratitude for the meeting and highlighted the company's 60-year history in Egypt. The CEO reaffirmed the company's commitment to expanding its operations and investments in Egypt's energy sector, emphasizing its role as a key partner in developing Egypt's natural gas and petroleum resources. The CEO also expressed the company's intention to pursue clean and renewable energy projects, aligning with Egypt's priorities.
