Prime Minister reviews 2024 Egypt tourism report

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly reviewed a report from Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi on Egypt's incoming tourism in 2024. He emphasized the great importance the Egyptian state and its various agencies place on the tourism sector, recognizing it as a promising contributor to the Egyptian economy. He noted the state's ongoing efforts to support this vital sector, with the goal of attracting 30 million tourists annually.

The Minister of Tourism affirmed that Egypt remains a safe and stable destination unaffected by regional geopolitical events. This is reflected in 2024 tourist arrivals, which have already shown growth and are expected to increase compared to last year. Tourism indicators have reached record highs, with approximately 15.78 million tourists visiting Egypt so far in 2024. In the first half of the current fiscal year (July to December 2024), there were 8.7 million tourists. If the current monthly average of 1.4 million tourists continues, Egypt could reach 17 million tourists by the end of the fiscal year.

He added that Germany, Russia, and Saudi Arabia have been the leading sources of tourists to Egypt in 2024, including the first half of the 2024-2025 fiscal year. He also highlighted that the average hotel occupancy rate in December 2024 reached 69%, a 25% increase compared to the previous December. Occupancy rates in Sharm El-Sheikh, Greater Cairo, South Sinai, and Hurghada exceeded 75%.

Minister Sherif Fathi explained that Egypt offers numerous promising opportunities for hotel investment, with the state providing incentives and financing initiatives to support the sector, attract further investment, and stimulate tourism overall.
