Nineteen Egyptian universities included in QS

The QS world university rankings has announced the results of its 2025 subject rankings, showing that 19 Egyptian universities were listed in 44 academic disciplines out of a total of 55 subjects included in the ranking.

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the progress achieved by Egyptian universities in this edition of the ranking, noting the increase in the number of universities listed. The Egyptian universities were present in most of the scientific disciplines included in the ranking. He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to improve the global rankings of Egyptian universities and academic and research institutions.

The list of Egyptian universities included in the 2025 QS world university rankings by subject features Cairo University, which had the largest presence among Egyptian universities, being listed in 41 different academic fields. This was followed by the American University in Cairo, listed in 21 subjects, then Alexandria University and Ain Shams University, each listed in 20 fields. Mansoura University is represented in 16 disciplines, Al-Azhar University in 12, Zagazig University in 8, and Assiut University in 7 scientific subjects.

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, Helwan University, Tanta University, the German University in Cairo, Future University, and the British University in Cairo are also included in various academic disciplines. Additionally, Suez Canal University, Beni Suef University, Menoufia University, Benha University, and Minya University are represented in the rankings.

Dr. Adel Abdel Ghafar, the media advisor and spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that the QS ranking relies on four key indicators: academic reputation of the program, graduate reputation, research citations, and the research network published among researchers from different countries.

He added that this year’s version of the ranking includes 55 sub-disciplines across five major fields: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management.

This QS world university rankings by subject helps pre-university students discover and rank disciplines based on the programs offered by universities.

The progress of Egyptian universities in the QS rankings is attributed to policies that enhance scientific research, increase funding.

 Additionally, the role of Egypt’s Knowledge Bank in providing vast scientific resources to researchers, scholars, and policymakers has played an essential role in enhancing Egypt's research, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development. This aims to create a generation of Egyptian university graduates capable of making significant strides in all fields.
