Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, highlighted the crucial role of the new central laboratories in strengthening the health sector. He emphasized that these facilities will deliver modern, internationally standardized laboratory services to both Egyptian citizens and foreign residents.
This statement was made during his site visit to the central laboratory complex construction project in Badr City on Saturday. The visit was part of his ongoing field monitoring of national health projects, aimed at assessing progress and addressing any potential obstacles.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the
Ministry of Health and Population, said that the Minister praised the
completion rate of the construction works in the new central laboratories and
the distinguished architectural design of the buildings, stressing the
commitment to the initial opening date in next October.
The Minister examined the project's engineering plans and
the construction status of the 7,700 square meter, four-storey main building.
The visit also included an assessment of the surrounding structures within the
40,000 square meter site. The project's first phase is budgeted at 1.375
billion, with the second phase estimated at 2 billion.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar reported that the Minister received
a comprehensive briefing from the project's contractors, outlining progress and
future plans. The first phase has reached 80% completion, while the second
phase is at 15%. The Minister emphasized the critical need to meticulously
review all laboratory unit construction to ensure adherence to international
medical equipment standards.
The Minister instructed the creation of a visitor rest area
within the central laboratories to enhance comfort during waiting periods. He
also directed swift completion of all preparations for full operational
readiness, pledging full support for the project's success.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Amr Qandil, Assistant Minister for National Projects Dr. Anwar Ismail, Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector Dr. Rady Hammad, and Head of the Central Administration of Laboratories Dr. Nancy El-Gendy.
