Damietta Port enhances capacity with new quay cranes

Damietta Port received the Chinese ship CHANG YANG DONG FANG, delivering two giant quay cranes. This delivery is part of the "Damietta Alliance" company's superstructure work at the Tahya Misr 1 container terminal, in preparation for its upcoming opening.

The arrival of these giant cranes aligns with Damietta Alliance Container Terminals' strategy to provide the terminal with a comprehensive, state-of-the-art operating system. This system will feature 12 advanced quay cranes, produced by HHMC, a prominent manufacturer of advanced port equipment.

Characterized by their exceptional operational performance, these cranes can lift 75 tons and reach a height of 57.5 meters, ensuring efficient handling of large container ships carrying up to 11 containers high. Their 72-meter reach allows them to accommodate the widest ships, greatly improving the port's ability to handle the latest generation of container vessels.

The new cranes are also equipped with the latest advanced safety systems, including sensors and surveillance cameras, as well as protection systems to ensure the safety of operational processes inside the quay and during unloading and loading. The cranes also integrate with smart port management systems for real-time tracking of operations and optimal coordination between the various operating departments within the terminal.

Damietta Alliance Container Terminals Company, which includes the alliance of the German Eurogate, the Italian Contship, and the global shipping line Hapag-Lloyd, will operate the terminal to international standards, strengthening the port's position as a regional logistics hub.

This project is part of the Ministry of Transport's and Minister Kamel Al-Wazir's plan to establish the integrated Tanta-Mansoura-Damietta logistics corridor.
