The Board of Directors of the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund has approved the extension of the current aviation incentive program for the upcoming summer season (May to October), with modifications. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The Minister welcomed Dr. Sherif Gamal Abdel Gawad, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund, at his first meeting with the Council. The Minister expressed his pleasure and wished Dr. Abdel Gawad success.
The Council approved the minutes of its previous session.
Discussions then focused on aviation incentive policies designed to sustain and
increase inbound tourism. A review of the current incentive program, set to
continue until the end of April, was presented. The review emphasized the
program's success in 2024, showing growth in passenger numbers, flights, and
flight seat capacity compared to 2023, even amidst regional geopolitical
challenges. Notably, a 7% tourism growth was achieved in 2024.
The Council approved the estimated budget project for the
Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund for the fiscal year 2025-2026, outlining
its resources and uses.
It was noted that Dr. Sherif Gamal Abdel Gawad has been appointed Secretary-General of the Fund by ministerial decision, having previously served as Director General of the Accounts and Financial Directorates Sector at the Ministry of Finance.
