10 M families get 4 billion pounds in ration support

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Sherif Farouk reviewed the implementation status of the presidential directives to disburse additional support to the ten million most needy families registered on ration cards, at a total cost of 4 billion EGP. This comes as part of the latest social protection package, which is more targeted toward the most vulnerable and low-income groups, contributing to alleviating the living burdens on citizens.

A joint statement from both Ministries stated that the state treasury has allocated 2 billion EGP of additional funds allocated under the social protection package to the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade. The increase will be 125 EGP for single-member ration cards and 250 EGP for two or more individuals for two months (March and April 2025). The increase will be disbursed starting today, Tuesday, to approximately 10 million of the most needy families registered on ration cards.
