Engineer Hassan Al Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, met with Mr. Rizwan Somar, CEO and Managing Director of Dubai Port World for the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, as part of his current visit to India. The meeting reviewed the authority's current and future projects in the Egyptian market, as well as investment opportunities and potential in Egypt in areas of mutual interest.
The Minister said the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the authority's projects in Egypt, including the New Administrative Capital, logistics projects in 6th of October City, and the project to develop the logistics zone in Ain Sokhna in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Al Khatib affirmed the ministry's
commitment to providing all forms of support to DP World's projects in the
Egyptian market, emphasizing that Egypt possesses distinct investment
opportunities and assets that align with the authority's investment
orientations.
The Minister also noted that the Egyptian
government is currently implementing a package of reforms in fiscal, monetary,
and trade policies aimed at improving the business climate, simplifying
procedures, providing facilities for investors, and facilitating import and export
activities.
For his part, Mr. Rizwan Somar, CEO and Managing Director of DP World, reviewed the Authority's projects and expansion plans in the Egyptian market during the coming period. He expressed the authority's interest in enhancing cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in the areas of foreign trade and strengthening Egypt's role as a regional hub for trade and logistics services in the region.
