Egypt invites African businessmen to invest in agriculture

Egypt affirmed its commitment to providing technical support and training to its African counterparts in the field of agriculture, and invited Egyptian and African businessmen to explore promising investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Alaa Farouk Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation affirmed that the African file receives  significant attention from the political leadership, with a view to strengthening relations with the continent's countries across all sectors, citing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives in this regard.

This came during his speech at the annual celebration of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Yosry El-Sharkawy, President of the Association, several ambassadors, development partners from international and regional institutions and organizations, representatives from 40 African countries, and business and investment leaders.

Farouk stated that Egypt can play a leading role in enhancing agricultural cooperation with Africa and achieving sustainable development on the continent. He called on Egyptian and African businessmen to explore promising investment opportunities in the agricultural sector and build strategic partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable development in Africa.

The Minister thanked the organizers of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, praising its role as a leading Egyptian national platform in developing Egyptian-African relations and serving as a link between the government, Egyptian and African businessmen.

For his part, Dr. Yousry El-Sharkawy, President of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, emphasized that the significant participation of ministers and officials instills the ambition to achieve cooperation between the Egyptian and African private sectors and reflects the Egyptian political leadership directives. He pointed out that the association has achieved its goals and embarked on an ambitious plan based on solid foundations for mobilizing events and activities, strengthening mutual understanding and interconnectedness across Africa, organizing Egyptian economic and cultural trade exhibitions, and working to provide information and partnerships between African economic entities.

On the sidelines of the celebration, the Minister of Agriculture and the attendees toured the African Commodities Exhibition.
