Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Sherif Farouk issued urgent directives to all governorate supply directorates on Thursday to intensify preparations for Eid al-Fitr and ensure the availability of essential commodities and market stability during this period.
Farouk stressed the need for stricter oversight of markets, bakeries, and food supply outlets to guarantee product availability and prevent price manipulation. He also highlighted the importance of monitoring local bakery operations, returning bread production to pre-Ramadan levels, and ensuring flour distribution aligns with official regulations.
He also stressed the importance of
monitoring the stability of the food supply situation, ensuring the
availability of food and rationed goods at outlets and consumer complexes, and
ensuring they are sold at the specified prices. He also emphasized the importance
of intensifying inspection campaigns at fuel stations and butane gas depots to
ensure the absence of any monopolistic practices.
The Minister directed that workers be
assigned to shift work to ensure continuous market monitoring and to verify the
quality and suitability of the goods on display, while ensuring they are sold
at official prices. He also emphasized monitoring the distribution of Eid al-Fitr
supplies, including food commodities, meat, and poultry, to ensure they are
available in sufficient quantities.
He stated that main operations rooms have
been activated in each directorate, as well as sub-operations rooms in the
centers, to monitor the supply situation around the clock, receive citizens'
complaints, and take immediate action.
He stressed that the ministry will not tolerate any violations or attempts to manipulate the markets, emphasizing that all legal measures will be taken against violators to ensure price stability and the availability of goods in appropriate quantities during Eid al-Fitr holiday, ensuring the provision of the best food supply services to citizens.
