Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, oversaw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and Siemens Healthineers, in the presence of Dr. Hisham Abu Steit, Head of the Unified Procurement Authority. This agreement establishes the first center in Egypt and the Middle East to develop and enhance radiology equipment and providing cutting-edge medical technologies, aligning with Egypt's commitment to health sector investment and improving citizen services.
The Minister underscored the commitment to leveraging modern technology to expedite disease diagnosis and enhance recovery prospects, highlighting the significance of establishing the first center in Egypt and the Middle East as a cornerstone of Egypt's healthcare system.
Ministerial spokesperson, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, clarified
that the meeting included a video conference presentation from several
hospitals in North Sinai Governorate. The presentation showcased the medical
equipment donated to the ministry and the training provided by Siemens
Healthineers and the Siemens Caring Hands Foundation, and featured patient case
studies illustrating the use of these devices.
He added that the Ministry received 10 modern radiology
devices from Siemens, supplied to four hospitals in North Sinai Governorate to
bolster healthcare services in the region. He clarified that the delivered
equipment includes C-Arm devices, ultrasound machines, and a mobile X-ray unit.
He further explained that the meeting involved discussions
on a proposed project to establish a control and command center within the
General Administration of Radiology, linking it to six hospitals nationwide.
This initiative aims to expand access to advanced medical technology as part of
Egypt's healthcare infrastructure development plans.

He emphasized that the memorandum of understanding aims to create more job opportunities and position Egypt as a regional hub for advancing healthcare systems in Africa and the Middle East.
