The Egyptian Information, Telecommunications, Electronics, and Software Alliance (EiTESAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to empower persons with disabilities (PwDs) and support their full integration into society.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohamed Issa, EiTESAL Association Treasurer, and Dr. Abdel Moneim El-Sharkawy, Academy President
This agreement aims to enhance cooperation
between EiTESAL and NAID, to achieve several strategic objectives, most
notably: technologically empowering persons with disabilities by developing
innovative technical solutions that support their integration into society, cooperation
in the fields of scientific research, development, and entrepreneurship in
assistive technologies, which contributes to the development of innovative
solutions to facilitate the lives of persons with disabilities, developing
programs for early detection and intervention to reduce disability, while enhancing
rehabilitation services, and providing specialized training programs aimed at
raising awareness and empowering individuals with disabilities in the technical
and digital fields.
Organizing specialized seminars and
conferences to spread the culture of assistive technology and promote its use
in various sectors. Launching business incubators and accelerators to support
startups working in the field of assistive technology, with the goal of
providing advanced technical solutions for people with disabilities.
Commenting on this collaboration, Dr.
Mohamed Issa, said, "EiTESAL Association places great importance on
assistive technology, including this sector in its incubation programs to
support startups and entrepreneurs. The association is committed to providing
strong support for innovative projects in the fields of biomedical technology,
the development of assistive devices and prosthetics, and empowering
entrepreneurs with disabilities to establish their own businesses."
He added that the association is working to
provide special incubation programs to support entrepreneurs with disabilities,
with the aim of encouraging them to be creative and innovative, and enhancing
their role in achieving economic and social development.
This collaboration comes as part of ongoing national efforts to support the rights of persons with disabilities, develop their capabilities, and promote their inclusion in all areas of life, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. This collaboration reflects the commitment of the EiTESAL Association and NAID to providing a supportive environment that enables persons with disabilities to access and benefit from modern technology, enhancing their independence and effective participation in society.
