Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the commencement of trial operations of the second phase of the New Cairo City Water Purification Plant, with a capacity of 500,000 m3/day. This is in preparation for its readiness to meet the city's water needs during the upcoming summer, in addition to supplying new urban expansions and regulating water pressure.
In the same context, Engineer Abdel Raouf El-Gheity, Chairman of the New Cairo City Authority, Engineer Mohamed Mohie, Vice Chairman of the Authority for the Plants Sector, and Authority officials conducted an inspection tour of the plant's components. This included ensuring the disinfection and sterilization of four clarifiers, nine filters, the operation of the chlorine system and ensuring its readiness, the operation of the alum system and ensuring its readiness, and the disinfection and sterilization of the 20,000 m3 water tank, as well as ensuring the efficiency and readiness of the slurry system.
During the tour, Abdel Raouf stressed the need to ensure that water continues to flow into the filters, to intensify the washing of the necessary water production filters, and to ensure that all components are put into service to ensure that water samples are collected on a regular basis to ensure their quality. He also stressed the need to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to collect the necessary chemical, bacteriological, and biological samples for testing and to ensure their efficiency before they are put into service.
