Sandoz Egypt Pharmaceuticals provides oncology drugs, biotherapies

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, discussed with Dr. Sameh El-Bagoury, Chairman of Sandoz Egypt Pharmaceuticals, cooperation projects between the two parties in the provision of oncology drugs and biotherapeutics.

El-Sobky noted that the meeting addressed several key topics, most notably the launch of a scientific platform for service recipients to exchange scientific discussions, the promotion of continuing medical education, and the expansion of training and scientific research programs with the aim of developing the skills of medical personnel and improving healthcare services provided to comprehensive health insurance recipients.

A memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Healthcare Authority and Sandoz Egypt, which covers several areas of joint cooperation, most notably supporting kidney transplantation by providing immunosuppressive drugs and developing kidney transplant centers through specialized training programs for doctors and specialists. The meeting also addressed combating antibiotic resistance by conducting joint studies to monitor patterns of bacterial resistance, implementing programs to rationalize the use of antibiotics in hospitals, and supporting scientific research in this field.

The meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing public health awareness through awareness campaigns on antibiotic resistance, and launching educational initiatives for service recipients on the proper and safe use of medications, as well as the importance of prevention and early detection of diseases. This will contribute to improving the quality of life for citizens.

Al-Sobky praised Sandoz Egypt's efforts in supporting the localization of the pharmaceutical industry, noting that the Health Care Authority is the only entity in Egypt that dispenses prescriptions electronically, issuing more than 20 million electronic prescriptions monthly. This reflects the development of the Authority's digitalization and enhances the efficiency of health services provided to beneficiaries.

For his part, Dr. Sameh El-Bagoury, Chairman of Sandoz Egypt, praised the Health Care Authority's efforts in developing digital infrastructure and improving the quality of health services. He emphasized that Sandoz Egypt looks forward to a strategic partnership with the Health Care Authority, emphasizing that they share common goals and visions that they seek to achieve with the Authority in the coming period. This will contribute to improving patients' access to modern treatments and promoting innovation in the healthcare sector in Egypt.
