Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, received Maryam Khalifa Al-Kaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States in Egypt. They discussed ways to strengthen the joint relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Dr. Al- Mashat welcomed the Emirati ambassador, highlighting the exceptional nature of Egyptian-Emirati relations, characterized by strong cooperation, shared history, and cultural bonds. She reaffirmed the Egyptian government’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations, as evidenced by the frequent high-level visits between the leaders of the two countries.
The Minister emphasized the importance of joint efforts to solidify the bilateral relationship between the two nations, through platforms such as the joint committee and other cooperative mechanisms. She also addressed the progress of the industrial partnership involving Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Bahrain, marking the commencement of a new era of economic collaboration. This integrated industrial partnership aims to foster sustainable development across key sectors including agriculture, food, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, textiles, metals, and petrochemicals.
She underscored the government's commitment to fostering a robust investment climate that attracts both domestic and foreign capital, thereby stimulating private sector growth. These efforts aim to bolster the nation's overall economic performance and fulfill the aspirations of the Egyptian people. She emphasized the eagerness to create a conducive environment for Emirati investments across various sectors and to strengthen cooperation through initiatives promoting economic growth and a sustainable green transition.
She commended the UAE for its invaluable support in enhancing government excellence. The UAE’s technical assistance for the Egypt Award for Government Excellence has been instrumental in fostering institutional development, innovation, and excellence through training assessors, jurors, and quality control officers. Moreover, the UAE's contributions to capacity building for Egyptian public sector employees through diverse training programs, coupled with collaboration on government accelerators and foresight initiatives, have significantly elevated the efficiency and innovation of Egypt’s government.
Al-Mashat expressed sincere
appreciation to the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Abu Dhabi Fund for
Development, for its outstanding contributions to supporting and financing
development projects in Egypt. These efforts align perfectly with the Egyptian
government's development agenda and the Vision 2030.
The meeting included a review of ongoing cooperation programs between Egypt and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, with a particular focus on the micro-project grant program.
The cooperative partnership between Egypt and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development commenced in 1974, establishing the Fund as a pivotal development partner for Egypt. Since then, the Fund has been instrumental in financing numerous high-priority projects across diverse sectors, including agriculture, industry, energy, housing, infrastructure, and rural development.
