Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with representatives of the Chinese company CSCEC and representatives of Incom, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Mohamed Moustafa Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority, to review proposals for plans and designs for the Capital Medical City.
The meeting witnessed a review of
several proposals submitted for the medical city project. Dr. Madbouly noted
that this project had been previously discussed with President Abdel Fattah
El-Sisi, who tasked him with selecting the most suitable offer. This selection
would consider not only the design but also the implementation method and cost.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar confirmed
that this project is Egypt's largest medical endeavor. It will encompass a
network of hospitals and educational institutions, significantly enhancing
healthcare services for citizens. Additionally, the project will provide access
to various research centers. The location in the New Administrative Capital was
chosen due to its strategic advantage. Situated on major roadways and
transportation arteries, this 230-acre site offers excellent connectivity.
He explained that this project
will significantly accelerate regional development. It will feature 18 medical
institutes encompassing all specialties, with a total of 42,235 beds.
Additionally, the project includes a private medical and technological
university, a nanotechnology research center, and residential and recreational
areas.
Counselor Muhammad Al-Homossany,
the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, presented
the project's plans and designs. He noted that these plans were meticulously
developed over a year to achieve the desired outcomes. The meeting also
addressed financing mechanisms, management strategies, and maintenance plans
for this significant project.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the company's recent efforts in completing these exceptional designs. He emphasized the need for a precise and detailed estimate of the project's total cost, including the foreign component, and requested the company to provide a comprehensive study. This study should outline an integrated economic system that ensures the state's collection of operating expenses.
During the meeting, Dr. Madbouly mentioned his recent visit to China on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to participate in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum. He noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged 360 billion yuan to support African countries in implementing various service and development projects across ten key areas. Given the focus on healthcare projects, he expressed hope that this project would be included in the package of Chinese initiatives. He emphasized that the project's economic feasibility study would be a crucial factor in selecting the implementing partner.
