Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, met on Sunday, with a World Bank delegation at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. They discussed potential collaborations to enhance Egypt's social protection system.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing to improve the system's governance.
The World Bank delegation was led by Cristobal Riado Cano, Director of Social Protection Practices. It also included Social Protection Specialist Thuraya Asyuti, Senior Social Protection Specialist Mary Ovadia, Social Protection Consultant Nazly Abdel Aziz, and Senior Economist Iman Helmy, all experts in social protection.
Representing Egypt were Deputy
Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Major General Walid Abu ElMagd, CEO of
the Silo Holding Company Dr. Ashraf Sadek, Vice President of the General Authority
for Supply Commodities Hossam Al Garahy, Assistant Minister and Official
Spokesperson of the Ministry Ahmed Kamal, Assistant Minister and Acting Head of
the Development Authority Dr. Heba El-Sayed, and Director General of
International Relations and Agreements Diaa ElDin Askar.
In the same context, the minister explained that the meeting aims to continue discussions on comprehensive social protection integration. He highlighted the ministry's plan to manage support programs, using World Bank studies to identify future cooperation and ensure support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
