The Media Center of the National Food Safety Authority released its 38th weekly report for 2024, covering October 5-11. The report highlighted various activities.
The General Administration for
Factory Inspection conducted 20 joint inspections with the Industrial
Development Authority. The Inspection Department of Filling Stations and
Centers conducted 17 inspections and certification visits. The department
issued 374 export permits for agricultural products to 344 exporters.
According to the General Administration's Information Center, Egypt exported 3470 food shipments (143,000 tons) to 1386 companies. These shipments included 585 types of flour, vegetables, and other food products. Sweet potatoes led vegetable exports (12,000 tons), followed by beans (8,000 tons) and mixed vegetables (5,000 tons). Egypt exported 50 vegetable varieties (33,000 tons) in total. Mangoes led fruit exports (12,000 tons), followed by pomegranates (11,000 tons) and lemons (5,000 tons). Egypt exported 42 fruit varieties (30,000 tons) in total.
Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and
the Netherlands were the top importers of exports during the week. Safaga Port
led in exports (585 shipments), followed by Alexandria (505 shipments) and
Cairo Airport (400 shipments).
Egypt imported 1970 food shipments (586,000 tons) from 777 companies. These shipments included 177 types of wheat, sugar, and oils from 76 countries. Russia was the top exporter to Egypt, followed by Brazil, Malaysia, and America. Alexandria Port led in imports (515 shipments), followed by Damietta (364 shipments) and Port Said (310 shipments).
The General Administration for the Registration and Licensing of Private Foodstuffs registered 21 products, 8 companies, and conducted 3 inspection visits. The administration also examined 661 new products and issued 4 free sale certificates.
