President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived Tuesday in Kazan, Russia to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit, scheduled for 22–24 October, marking Egypt's first participation as a member in the group since its official accession at the beginning of this year
The summit is being held in the presence of the leaders of
the five original BRICS nations: Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South
Africa, in addition to the newly joined members at the beginning of this year,
namely Egypt, the UAE, Ethiopia, and Iran.
Saudi Arabia is expected to join the group soon, while
Argentina has chosen to withdraw from this bloc.
The President is expected to deliver Egypt's speech at the summit, and he will hold a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the participating countries.
