The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCEZ) is actively participating in the 4th PharmaRegAfriSummit, an African regulatory affairs conference and exhibition organized by the Unified Procurement Authority. The SCEZ is showcasing its investment advantages and highlighting its efforts in targeted medical sectors, including medical supplies, devices, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and pharmaceuticals.
This participation is part of the
SCEZ's broader promotional efforts to spotlight investment opportunities in its
target sectors, especially the medical field. The African market, particularly
Egypt, offers a promising landscape for medical investors. The SCEZ is
well-positioned as a key platform to support investments in this sector,
offering attractive incentives that enable investors to tap into both the local
Egyptian and wider African markets.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of
the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCEZ), clarified that
the SCEZ is actively working to localize the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals,
active ingredients, medical devices, and more. Plans are underway to establish
a 4-million-square-meter pharmaceutical industrial zone to attract
pharmaceutical industries, in collaboration with successful investor partners
within the SCEZ. The zone already boasts several success stories in this field,
including Atiko Pharma in the Sokhna industrial zone, specializing in
intravenous drug manufacturing; Genavac Egypt for the production of biological
vaccines and serums; and IDI, specializing in the production of various
pharmaceutical preparations.
Furthermore, the signing of a
contract for the establishment of the Arab Egyptian Pharmaceutical Company
(Eibico) ARAB API for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients on an
85,000-square-meter area, with a total investment of $165 million, is nearing
completion.
It's worth noting that the PharmaRegAfriSummit is being held with the participation of over 36 countries, more than 136 speakers, and 450 participants from various companies. The summit aims to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Africa in improving healthcare services and exploring investment opportunities for African companies in Arab countries.
