Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with a delegation of Chinese companies specializing in AI-powered healthcare solutions to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health technology sector and explore investment opportunities in Egypt. The meeting was held at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that ten Chinese companies specializing in healthcare solutions and artificial intelligence participated in the meeting. These companies presented innovative solutions in areas such as diagnosis, treatment, genetic testing, personalized treatment plans, ultrasound diagnosis, early detection of breast, lung, and colon cancer, and digital health population management platforms.
The Minister listened to the
Chinese companies' presentations on how to exchange expertise and benefit from
various sectors of the Egyptian healthcare system, as well as enhancing
investments in academic research, introducing advanced medical equipment with a
focus on non-surgical liver diagnosis, establishing AI-powered hospitals,
transforming the healthcare industry, establishing an AI platform, and the
possibility of cooperation in clinical training, surgery, and research.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the
minister directed the arrangement of a visit for the Chinese delegation to the
National Cancer Institute and Dar El Salam Hospital, and to utilize the
companies in several hospitals to exchange expertise and strengthen
Egyptian-Chinese relations. The minister expressed his aspiration for more
partnerships and joint projects. He commended a live demonstration of an
AI-based retinal imaging camera presented by one of the Chinese companies.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hatem El Wardani, Chairman of the Board of AstraZeneca Egypt, Major General Ashraf Abdel Aleem, Assistant Minister for Information Systems and Digital Transformation, Dr. Peter Wageh, Head of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers, Dr. Asmaa Rashad, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Group at the Health and Population Information Center, and Engineer Akram Sami, Assistant Minister for Information Technology Affairs.
