President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi headed to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday to participate in the G20 Summit, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy stated that President Sisi's attendance at the summit is at the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
This marks Egypt's fourth G20
Summit, following participation in the 2016 Chinese, 2019 Japanese, and 2023
Indian presidencies. It underscores the growing international recognition of
Egypt's significant role on the global stage.
The summit will address critical
issues for developing nations, including social inclusion, combating poverty and
hunger, global governance reform, and sustainable energy transition.
President Sisi will deliver
speeches highlighting Egypt's development strides, the challenges faced by
developing countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and
Egypt's vision for solidarity and cooperation in addressing global challenges.
The summit will also address
regional issues, particularly the ongoing Israeli escalation in Palestine and
Lebanon, and Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the Middle East.
A key agenda item is the launch
of the Global Alliance to Combat Poverty and Hunger, an initiative by Brazil to
mobilize resources and accelerate global efforts to eradicate poverty and
hunger.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Sisi will meet with world leaders to discuss bilateral relations, international cooperation on sustainable development, and regional peace and security.
