Morgan Stanley expects status quo on Egypt rates

Morgan Stanley expects the Central Bank of Egypt to maintain interest rates unchanged at its Monetary Policy Committee meeting the coming Thursday.

Morgan Stanley also expects the Central Bank to start gradually reducing interest rates starting from the first quarter of next year, 2025. In its report, the bank indicated that it based its expectations on a significant slowdown in inflation to levels of 14-15%.

According to Morgan Stanley's report, the CBE is expected to gradually reduce interest rates to 17.25% by the conclusion of the subsequent year, from the current rate of 27.25%.

It is worth noting that the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Egypt will hold its meeting next Thursday to discuss the interest rate in light of current changes, amid expectations of a renewed interest rate stabilization.
