US Chamber of Commerce's Mining Committee meets with Petroleum Minister

Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received a delegation from the Mining Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

The delegation included Dr. Mohamed Zaher, Chairman of Real Mining Services, Sherif Barakat, Director of Aton Resources, Mostafa El-Gabaly, Executive Director of Abu Zaabal Fertilizers Company, Ahmed Ali Wafiq, Chairman of Saint-Gobain Glass, Silvia Minassa, Executive Director of the Chamber in Cairo, and Dina Nawar, Deputy Executive Director.

Engineer Moataz Atef, Head of the Central Administration of the Technical Office and the Minister's Office Affairs, and the official spokesperson for the ministry, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Badawy emphasized the significance of the mining sector and explored ways to create a favorable environment for private sector involvement in mining projects and related industries. He highlighted the crucial role of the American Chamber of Commerce in facilitating this process and the potential for leveraging its experience in transferring best practices from other countries.

He further emphasized the importance of utilizing training programs and capitalizing on the sector's promising investment opportunities. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts to achieve common goals.

The mining chamber delegation outlined its role in stimulating investments in Egypt's mining sector, not only in gold but also in various minerals. They also expressed their support for the Ministry of Petroleum's initiative to transform the Mineral Resources Authority into an economic authority. The delegation further mentioned ongoing collaborations with major mining companies to invest in this promising sector.

The delegation highlighted Egypt's substantial potential for gold and mineral exploration and mining. They emphasized significant growth opportunities and a strong desire to expand mining activities. Additionally, they noted Egypt’s rich phosphate reserves, which offer promising opportunities for establishing phosphate fertilizer production projects.
