Minister eases regulations for factories on non-industrial land

Minister of Industry and Transport Engineer Kamel El-Wazir affirmed that the status of any factory built on non-industrial land that met the necessary requirements for an industrial facility before October 2023 would be reviewed for potential regularization.

He indicated that no industrial facility established or planned to be established after this date without obtaining the necessary industrial licenses would be regularized.

These statements were made during the minister's meeting with investors in Menoufia Governorate on Saturday. This meeting was part of an ongoing weekly series of meetings held every Saturday with investors from different governorates at the General Authority for Industrial Development headquarters. The goal of these meetings is to identify and address challenges and obstacles faced by investors.

During the meeting, the executive status of approved industrial zones and complexes in Menoufia Governorate was reviewed. The meeting also reviewed the current status of industrial land allocation and operation in each zone, the progress of infrastructure development, and the performance of industrial developers in Sadat City.

The minister instructed the coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to expedite the archaeological survey and excavation processes in the proposed expansion areas of Gamasa, Margham, and Qousna industrial zones. This is to save time and costs for investors while adhering to licensing requirements. Additionally, all free zones, investment zones, and the Suez Canal Economic Zone must comply with the standards and specifications set by the General Authority for Industrial Development (GAFI) and obtain the Authority's approval for their activities.

He emphasized that GAFI's procedures are reviewed by representatives from relevant authorities, such as environmental, safety, and occupational health agencies, as well as the Food Safety Authority. These representatives participate in all GAFI procedures and the joint factory inspection committee.
