Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly hold a meeting on Sunday, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to review a proposal submitted by the Egyptian-French consortium of Hassan Allam Holding and Paris Airports Group (ADP). The consortium proposed to cooperate with the government in operating and managing airports as part of the government's privatization program.
The meeting was attended by Pilot Sameh Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, Engineer Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding Group, Engineer Ayman Arab, Chairman of the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, Major General Wael Al-Nashar, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, and Xavier Horstil, Deputy CEO of Paris Airports Group.
The meeting began with a welcome
address to the officials of Paris Airports Group at the government headquarters
in the New Administrative Capital. Dr. Madbouly highlighted the company's
status as a leading global operator of airport management and operations,
recognizing its significant experience in the field.
He expressed enthusiasm for
potential collaboration with the French group in airport management and
operations. This aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to involve the
private sector in airport management and operations as part of its
privatization program, implemented in cooperation with the International
Finance Corporation.
The Prime Minister added, "We look forward to the Paris Airports Group being one of the companies that will compete in the bids for the privatization program of various Egyptian airports in the coming period."
For his part, the Minister of
Civil Aviation pointed to the important role of the Paris Airports Group as a
major international player in the management and operation of airports around
the world. He explained that the company had previously cooperated with the
Egyptian government in the airports sector.
Pilot Sameh Hefny stated, 'We are
open to various forms of partnership with the French group in the field of
airport management and operation, especially in light of the accelerated
efforts exerted by the government to finalize the airport offering plan within
the government privatization program in cooperation with the International
Finance Corporation.'
Responding to the Egyptian-French
alliance's request to hold workshops with the Ministry of Civil Aviation
officials in the near future to discuss the airport offering plan in more
detail, the minister affirmed his welcome for holding these workshops soon.
This would allow both sides to clearly hear each other's visions regarding the
possibility of any potential partnership and the progress of the consultations
related to the airport offering plan.
Engineer Hassan Allam, CEO of
Hassan Allam Holding Group, said that the Hassan Allam-ADP alliance is keen to
cooperate with the government in the field of airports, contributing to
achieving the government's goals of increasing airports' capacity, facilitating
the movement of passengers and goods, and easing travel.
Meanwhile, Xavier Horstil, Deputy
CEO of Paris Airports Group, highlighted ADP's position as a leading global
player in airport management. He emphasized the group's commitment to forging
long-term partnerships with governments and aviation industry stakeholders
worldwide.
Horstil further revealed that
ADP's network of managed and operated airports welcomed approximately 336.5
million passengers in 2023. The group currently boasts partnerships with 26
airports across 18 countries. Notably, ADP has a historical presence in Egypt,
having operated several airports during the 2000s.
He expressed ADP's intention to contribute to the modernization of Egyptian airports, aligning them with international standards. This would ultimately enhance passenger experience, boost satisfaction levels, and provide robust support to airlines and cargo operators. Additionally, ADP aims to play a role in increasing airport revenues.
