Madbouly focuses on expediting goods release from ports

Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly followed up on the executive situation of customs clearance of goods in ports and the application of the pre-shipment system, during a periodic meeting attended by Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Maait, and Dr. Mona Nasser, Assistant Minister of Finance for Follow-up Affairs and Management of Customs Authority Development Projects as well as Al-Shahat Al-Ghatouri, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Counselor Muhammad Al-Homossani, stated that the meeting reviewed the values of goods registered, approved, and released at customs ports up to June 2nd. These goods included petroleum products and strategic items such as feed additives, medicines, rice, fish, fertilizers, serums, vaccines, agricultural seeds and seeds, corn, butter, oil, beans, lentils, wheat, pharmaceutical chemicals, meat, tea, soybeans, powdered milk, infant formula, medical supplies, corneas, and live poultry.

Furthermore, Homossani highlighted that the meeting also reviewed the follow-up on decisions regarding the pre-registration system. They emphasized strict system governance, ensuring no goods enter ports unless registered on the ACI pre-registration system for shipments. There will be no exceptions outside the system.

 The meeting also addressed the continued activation of the "junk system" as agreed upon, prioritizing the swift release of food commodities approaching expiration. Additionally, discussions focused on coordinating with relevant authorities to set a deadline for mandatory pre-registration of all goods arriving by air freight through the ACI system.
