Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, held a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Sunday, to review the progress of "Building 4" at Cairo International Airport, the new Republic’s aviation gateway in the presence of Dr. Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation.
Madbouly emphasized President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's vision for modernizing Egypt's aviation sector. This includes expanding airport capacity, enhancing passenger services, and ultimately boosting tourism to 30 million visitors annually.
Dr. Sameh El Hefny outlined the
target specifications for the new Republic's aviation gateway, which includes
building a passenger terminal with a capacity of no less than 30 million
passengers annually, with the potential for expansion to accommodate an
additional 10 million, a new runway equipped with state-of-the-art navigation
and ground lighting systems to ensure compliance with the latest industry
advancements, large parking lots fully covered with solar panels, as well as
linking it to a road network with smooth and fast entrances, and support and
operation buildings designed to meet the highest international standards.
The Minister of Civil Aviation
reviewed the classification of the new Republic's aviation gateway compared to
international airports. He also discussed the project's implementation phases
and the planned procedural mechanisms. He highlighted ongoing negotiations with
companies specializing in the development and operation of major international
airports.
In this regard, Dr. Hefny emphasized that the project's timeframe is estimated to be between 4 and 5 years. He further elaborated on the mechanisms for initiating the project and its associated neighboring developments.
