Within the framework of Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development, a cooperation protocol has been signed between Simaf, a factory affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), and the National Egyptian Company for Railway Industries (NERIC).
Lieutenant General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the AOI, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with NERIC, highlighting the significance of this partnership in bolstering the nation's railway and metro systems. He emphasized that this integration will positively impact the national industry and the Egyptian economy while reducing reliance on imports.
Abdel Latif explained that the
goal is to establish a joint venture capable of fulfilling the Ministry of Transport's
demand for cutting-edge "Made in Egypt" products. This will involve
active participation in projects requiring the supply of rolling stock and its
components, both domestically and internationally, adhering to stringent
international standards. This strategic alliance aligns perfectly with the
state's vision for industrial localization and overall development.
He emphasized that the Simaf
factory, a leader in the railway industry, has successfully increased domestic
manufacturing rates and localized the latest manufacturing technologies within
the railway and metro sectors. Notably, Simaf recently earned the prestigious
Quality Management Systems Certificate in the railway industry (IRIS - International
Railways Industrial System).
He highlighted that this
certification unlocks new avenues for partnerships with prominent international
companies. It significantly enhances marketing opportunities, facilitates entry
into new global markets through the acquisition of new international contracts,
and attracts investments in the railway, metro, and smart transportation
sectors.
Engineer Karim Samy Saad, a
member of the board of directors of NERIC, expressed his pride in collaborating
with the AOI, the state's industrial backbone. He acknowledged the AOI's proven
excellence in successfully completing all areas of cooperation with the
required efficiency, adhering to the highest standards of quality, and ensuring
timely delivery and implementation, including comprehensive maintenance and
after-sales services.
Saad emphasized that this partnership will be a substantial contribution to the Egyptian economy. By working together to design and manufacture rolling stock for railways and metro systems, along with their components, utilizing Egyptian ingenuity and leveraging the national manufacturing capabilities of the AOI, they will contribute significantly to achieving sustainable development and the successful execution of various development projects.
