President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today, Sunday, with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Transport and Industry, and Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Urban Planning.
The Presidential Spokesperson announced that the President received a briefing on the progress of transportation and industry projects, especially those related to the establishment, modernization and operation of ports across the Republic. This is in light of the pivotal role that these ports represent in the state’s development programs.
Recognizing the crucial role of
ports in national development, the President directed the acceleration of
integrated logistics projects. These initiatives aim to connect production
areas with modern, high-capacity ports, integrating them with modern transport
networks (roads, railways, etc.). The goal is to establish Egypt as a global
trade and logistics hub, driving significant economic benefits.
During the meeting, Ambassador
Mohamed Al-Shinawy, the official spokesman, highlighted discussions on the
progress of infrastructure projects connecting Egypt with African nations.
These projects encompass land, rail, and maritime transport corridors, as well
as river navigation routes, aiming to boost trade with African countries. The
meeting reviewed cooperative efforts with several African nations in this
regard. The President emphasized the importance of accelerating these efforts
to connect with African counterparts, aligning with the 2063 African
Development Agenda and relevant African Union programs.
The meeting also addressed the
latest advancements in the high-speed electric train network project, which
will span the entire nation. This network will serve as a crucial development
artery, connecting new and existing urban, industrial, and tourist areas.
The meeting further explored opportunities for expanding industrial zones, aligning with the government's plan to modernize Egyptian industry. This plan emphasizes establishing new factories to maximize local market needs, promoting industrial localization and fostering domestic production capabilities.
