Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of vision exchange with the Omani Integrated Logistics Services Company on Wednesday.
The ceremony, held at SCA headquarters in Ismailia and attended by the Omani Ambassador to Cairo, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Rahbi, aims to strengthen cooperation in maritime operations and logistics.
Key areas of collaboration
outlined in the memo include training and leveraging SCA's shipyards and the
Suez Canal Academy for Maritime Training and Simulation; ship repair and maintenance
utilizing SCA's expertise; marketing to attract Omani vessels to transit the
Suez Canal; consulting and establishing a joint center to provide technical and
logistical support; knowledge sharing through organizing workshops and
conferences to exchange best practices.
Chairman of the SCA emphasized
the Authority's commitment to strengthening client relationships and fostering
partnerships across maritime and logistics sectors. This includes expanding
services, such as bunkering, crew changes, and emergency assistance, to enhance
the ship transit experience and establish the Suez Canal as a leading regional
logistics hub.
Rabie highlighted the Authority's
dedication to knowledge sharing and collaboration with global maritime
stakeholders. He emphasized leveraging the Authority's strengths, including
highly skilled personnel, advanced infrastructure (shipyards, equipment), and a
specialized training academy with cutting-edge technology and internationally
recognized programs.
The Ambassador of Oman in Cairo
emphasized that the Suez Canal is an ideal hub for providing diverse logistical
and maritime services adhering to global standards. He expressed his keenness
to leverage the strong historical ties between Oman and Egypt. This includes
capitalizing on the Suez Canal Authority's extensive expertise across various
domains, aligning with Oman's ambitious 2040 strategy, which prioritizes
maritime sectors.

Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Integrated Logistics
Services Company expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the Suez Canal
Authority to optimize its service offerings. This agreement, he stated, marks
the commencement of a fruitful economic and maritime partnership, encompassing
knowledge exchange across multiple areas.
The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed by Engineer Nashaat Nasr El-Din, Director of the Movement Department at the Suez Canal Authority, and Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Integrated Logistics Services Company.
