During his current visit to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met today, Wednesday, with Serbian Prime Minister Milošević Vucevic.
The Minister commended the outcomes of the two historic visits of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Serbia in July 2022, which laid the groundwork for enhanced cooperation across all sectors. He also highlighted the significance of Serbian President's visit to Cairo last July, where the focus was on strengthening economic and commercial ties. The Minister emphasized the importance of continued high-level exchanges to sustain this positive momentum.
Abdelatty welcomed the signing of
the free trade agreement between Egypt and Serbia in July 2024, anticipating a
substantial increase in trade volume and economic cooperation between the two
nations in the coming years. He underscored Egypt's keen interest in convening
the 19th session of the Joint Economic Committee in Cairo during the second
half of 2025. He further emphasized the importance of holding regular meetings
of the Joint Businessmen Council.
The meeting also explored the
available opportunities to increase mutual investments and explored the
possibility of trilateral cooperation in Africa.
The discussion emphasized the importance of identifying priority sectors for joint collaboration, including information technology, artificial intelligence, agriculture, food industries, renewable energy, and energy diversification. This focus stems from the notable growth of the renewable energy sector in Serbia in recent years. Furthermore, the meeting aimed to enhance mutual tourism flows between the two countries.
