During the meeting, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the focus was on ensuring the adequate supply of goods and foodstuffs. This involved coordinating with the Egyptian Future Agency to secure sufficient stockpiles and continue expanding reserves, particularly of strategic goods.
The meeting discussed measures to
ensure the availability of essential goods at affordable prices for citizens,
including price reductions, market organization, and support programs. The
President emphasized the importance of alleviating burdens on citizens,
maintaining sufficient reserves, and continuing initiatives to support the most
vulnerable, particularly during Ramadan. Cooperation with the private sector to
provide high-quality products at affordable prices was also stressed.
The meeting also focused on
expanding social protection networks by reforming the support system. This includes
adding all eligible beneficiaries, excluding ineligible ones, and ensuring the
inclusion of "Takaful" and "Karama" beneficiaries and
children of martyrs. The President emphasized the need to streamline support
system procedures to ensure aid reaches the most needy.
The meeting discussed activating
the commodity exchange to enhance food security, stabilize prices, and break
the monopoly of intermediaries. The unified purchasing mechanism was also
emphasized to control prices and achieve market balance.
In this context, the President
emphasized transforming Egypt into a regional logistics center for strategic
commodities to enhance its economic standing. The Minister of Supply reviewed
the situation regarding the strategic reserve of basic commodity reserves for
six months. In this regard, the President directed efforts to ensure sustainable
food security, increase strategic stocks of commodities, and enhance market
monitoring to prevent the monopolization of basic commodities.
He also called for developing integrated policies to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen supply chains, ensure fair and sustainable access to food and enable private sector contributions to price stability and improved food quality.
