President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, Sunday, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the official spokesman for the government of the Republic of Djibouti, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdelatty,
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, and Ahmed Ali Berri, Djibouti’s Ambassador to Cairo.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the Djiboutian Foreign Minister delivered greetings and appreciation from President Ismail Omar Guelleh, along with his desire to strengthen relations with Egypt. President El-Sisi reciprocated, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties and Egypt's commitment to further developing them.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, stressing the importance of exploring new avenues for collaboration to achieve shared goals and meet the aspirations of both nations.
Discussions also covered the Horn of Africa, with a review of efforts to restore regional security and stability, including developments in Somalia. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's continued support for Somali unity, stability, and territorial integrity.
Finally, the two sides addressed the Red Sea situation, agreeing on the need for joint action to restore security in the Bab el-Mandeb strait and ensure unimpeded navigation.
