New Alamein City is hosting the Middle East's largest university electric car rally as part of the New Alamein Festival today and tomorrow (August 14-15). The event, sponsored by the Prime Minister, will be attended by several ministers and international referees. Over 10,000 students will gather at the U Arena Alamein to watch the competition.
The primary objective of this
initiative is to foster a supportive environment for the electric vehicle
industry in Egypt, cultivate and prepare a cadre of Egyptian engineers in the
field of electric vehicle manufacturing and development, and position Egypt on
the international map for participating in international competitions through a
state-supported institutional framework.
This will help boost the
confidence of international companies to invest in this sector in Egypt and
enter into partnerships. EVER aims to qualify technical personnel, engineers,
researchers, and designers in the fields of embedded software, mechanical
components, electric propulsion systems, and design, enabling them to possess
the necessary qualifications for this promising industry. Moreover, it supports
and motivates students and innovators in an exciting and stimulating atmosphere.
This initiative aligns with the
Academy of Scientific Research and Technology's implementation of Egypt's
National Strategy for Science, Technology, and Innovation 2030, aimed at
fostering knowledge production and deepening local manufacturing.
Managed by Ain Shams University's Faculty of Engineering and the Innovation and Training Center, and held under the auspices of the Egyptian Cabinet, EVER fosters knowledge creation and local manufacturing. Launched in 2017, the annual competition has grown steadily, with successful events held in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022.
