CSCEC in talks to upgrade Egyptian airports

In an effort to attract leading global infrastructure companies to enhance traveler experiences at Egyptian airports, Dr. Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, met with a delegation from China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). A prominent international contracting and investment firm, CSCEC has played a significant role in numerous construction projects in Egypt, most notably the New Administrative Capital.

This meeting aligns with the deep strategic partnership between Egypt and China and follows the recent coordination meetings held on the sidelines of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum summit in Beijing between Egyptian and Chinese government representatives.

The meeting explored avenues for joint cooperation between the Egyptian civil aviation sector and CSCEC on projects related to the development of certain Egyptian airports. The Chinese delegation presented detailed proposals and designs for the modernization of Cairo and Hurghada International Airports, aiming to elevate the Egyptian airport system to compete with major international airports in terms of service quality and diversity.

The minister commended the strong collaborative relationship between Egypt and CSCEC, acknowledging the company's substantial contributions to various national projects in Egypt, driven by its global expertise in construction. He emphasized the Ministry of Civil Aviation's commitment to thoroughly review all proposals and designs submitted by the Chinese side, fostering open dialogue to determine the next steps in these projects and ultimately achieve the sector's objectives.

In turn, the Chinese delegation expressed their satisfaction with the meeting, highlighting the strong and enduring bilateral relationship between Egypt and China and the successful collaborations between CSCEC and development projects in Egypt. They cited the Central Business District project in the New Administrative Capital and the New Alamein City as prime examples of fruitful cooperation between the two sides. Moreover, the Chinese delegation reaffirmed the company's commitment to providing the necessary support and expertise to undertake ambitious projects within the Egyptian civil aviation sector, thereby bolstering Egypt's position as a desirable tourist and investment destination.
