The government denied Monday the rumours circulating on some social media platforms regarding the issuance of a decision to reduce the quota for car imports in Egypt by 20% starting from this month, bringing the maximum limit to 8,000 cars per month instead of 10,000 cars.
The Information Center of the
Council of Ministers stated that, upon contacting the Ministry of Investment
and International Trade, these rumours were denied. The ministry emphasized
that there is no such thing as a "car quota" and stressed that no
official decisions or instructions have been issued regarding setting a maximum
limit for car imports in Egypt.
The ministry further affirmed
that in the event of any decisions being issued in this regard, they will be
announced through official communication channels. The center appealed to
citizens not to be swayed by such rumours and to obtain information from
official sources.
The Information Center called on all media outlets and social media users to exercise accuracy and objectivity in publishing news, and to contact the concerned authorities for verification before publishing information that is not based on any facts and could lead to confusion among citizens.
