Eitesal Association held a specialized session titled "AI in Egypt: The Way Forward," with the participation of over 50 Egyptian companies operating in the field of information and communication technology, in addition to a select group of industry leaders, government officials, and AI experts.
Participants discussed the future of this technology in Egypt, and the session was moderated by Engineer Hossam Megahed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eitesal Association.
Speakers, including Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister
of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Ahmed Tantawy, Supervisor of
the Applied Innovation Center at the Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology, and Dr. Haitham Hamza, Acting Head of the Software Engineering
Competence Center, provided valuable insights into the National AI Strategy
2025-2030, the current situation, challenges, and opportunities related to AI
in the public sector, in addition to the Authority's efforts to support
companies in developing AI applications.
In his opening speech, Engineer Hossam Megahed emphasized
that AI has become the cornerstone of digital transformation, and stressed the
importance of concerted efforts between the government, the private sector, and
civil society organizations to enhance Egypt's position as a regional hub for
the development of AI applications.
Dr. Hoda Baraka confirmed that the Ministry of
Communications has launched the second phase of Egypt's AI Strategy
(2025-2030), explaining that this strategy is a strategy for the entire
country, and that the ministry is moving forward in its efforts to enhance
digital transformation and support technological innovation.
Baraka presented Egypt's AI strategy, which is based on four
main pillars: capacity building, support for research and development,
development of digital infrastructure, and enhancement of international
cooperation.
Dr. Ahmed Tantawy explained that AI represents one of the
main pillars in Egypt's digital transformation vision, as the government has
adopted it as a tool to enhance operational efficiency and improve the quality
of services provided to citizens.
Dr. Haitham Hamza shed light on the role of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in supporting AI through multiple programs that include financial and technical support for startups, enhancing research and development, and supporting digital entrepreneurship.
